I define anxiety as experiencing failure in advance
We are standing by a flowing stream, the surface awash with busy bubbles. You call out to them, “So what are you then?” With some indignation, most of them reply, “We’re bubbles”, and hurry on in a state of haughty offence. But there are other bubbles who do not appear so indignant, and you dare ask them the same question. “So what are you then?” Their reply is as peaceful as that of the others was turbulent. “We’re stream”, they say. A sense of distinctiveness without a sense of difference is a most skillful attitude to acquire.
