This is a great ice-breaker and warm-up for groups that don’t know each other, or for groups to learn more about each other.

   For larger groups

  1. Have participants complete three of the sentences below on post-its.
  2. Then have them form groups of 2-4 and each read one of their post-its aloud to their group.
  3. Change the groups so participants are with new people and have them read their second.
  4. Change a final time and have them read their third sentence.
This is a good way to meet a few other participants if there isn’t time to meet everyone.

   For smaller groups

  1. Have participants stand in a circle.
  2. Have all the sentences below written out on index cards (one per card) and hand one card to each participant.
  3. Go around the circle having each participant introduce themselves and then complete the sentence on their card.

Sentence starters

  • I secretly believe that …
  • Nobody knows this, but…
  • I can’t wait for…
  • If I had my time again, I’d…
  • I’m a bit concerned about …
  • The thing that really confuses me is…
  • If it’s about the journey, not the destination, then…
  • If I knew i couldn’t fail, I’d…
  • I’d love to know how to…

Write some more of your own, perhaps more ties to the topic of your workshop.
